Nintendo is continuing their world expansion with more countries and regions added to the list for the Pokémon Go (PG). PG is certainly becoming a global phenomenon and videos of Pokémon players that are collecting the Pokémon’s is going viral. Nintendo shares have gone up 120% after the release of the app and this is expected to increase. The head of development has promised it will be available in 200 countries, as now it is only available in 27 countries. (as of 20/07/16)
So what is PG? PG is a free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile game for IOS and Android. The game uses real world locations for you to play in. It uses your camera and GPS to locate the Pokémon’s and then you have to catch them. It is a level up game so the more you play the better you get. So people are getting “addicted” to the phenomenon. It is all about catching the best Pokémon.
Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. Different from virtual reality where everything is happening in a virtual world, in AR it mixes the real world and the virtual. That is exactly what PG is doing.
LiveBlox will have AR elements in it, we believe this could give the user a unique experience. An app like PG is something you in the future can build in LiveBlox. You may have seen the video we made of the “Air Drum Kit”, a small app we made but that is one example of AR. More and more elements of AR will be implemented into LiveBlox in the future. This is just a small part of what LiveBlox can do. The power is yours!

“True Skin” is really a good example of what AR can be in the future.
This short film “Hyper Reality” also shows a good example of the future of AR.
